Then mucous also serves as a line of defense ad does not allow harmful organisms to attach to our body. It is mainly found in the mouth. Sweat produced by our body too is very useful in eliminating pathogens.

The second line of defense includes certain cells called White Blood Cells (W.B.C). If an infectious agent has managed to enter our body the WBC’s will immediately act on it, react with it and destroy it completely. Lymphocytes is a kind of WBC which is the first to appear at the site of any infection. The number and count of these Rapidly increase when we are infected with diseases.

There are certain cells in our body called as macrophages which digest the entering pathogen so that it is destroyed completely. Firstly they ingest the microorganism, digest its contents and kill it completely.
