Many restaurants in Europe, United States and Japan are trying out on a new technology to bestow on the customers the freedom to order their food using touch screens, instead of relying on waiters. It is correctly called as the E-WAITER. With the help of a screen at their table the diners can place their order themselves instead of relying on a fellow human being who could sometimes turn out to be grumpy or error prone. Tantalizing photographs of succulent steaks and gooey desserts would definitely play a major role in luring young customers, tempting them to order more.

The idea may be only the latest gimmick in a trade which is driven by consumer appetites and where fads help. But at least for now, it appears to be a boosting business. E-menu technology has already been installed in some of the private restaurants in Israel .This system is based on touch screens.

If customers start looking at the pictures of chocolate cakes, there are high chances that the diner will order it. This system is being applied in France, South Africa and Belgium too. Statistics prove that sales on tables which are installed with the touch-screens have been increased by a significant percentage. Customers often prefer to book tables equipped with these screens.

Microsoft is coming up with an entirely new technology which would transform an entire table into one big touch-screen, letting customers order food directly as well as listen to music and play games as well.
